Configuring automatic release from workflow

The Meridian link to AutoCAD includes the command Save & Release that can automatically release a document from its current workflow after first saving the user’s changes in AutoCAD. If the document is in a document type workflow and the document’s next workflow state is Released (regardless of its current state), the Release transition is executed automatically. But if the document is in a custom workflow (definition), there might be multiple end states with different names and you might want the document routed to only one of the states.

To configure the workflow state name for automatic release:

  1. In Configurator, expand Environment in the configuration tree and select Application Link Settings. The settings for each link appear in property pages in the right pane.
  2. Click the AutoCAD tab. The AutoCAD link’s settings page appears in the right pane.
  3. Click the Edit button to modify the settings.

Tip    To export the settings file to your computer, click the Export button. This can be useful if you would rather edit the file in your favorite text editor. You can then copy your changes to the Clipboard and paste them into Configurator.

  1. Locate the [CDWFTransitionsToWC] section of the file. If the section does not exist, you can create it. This section specifies the workflow name, state name, and transition name that can be executed in order to release documents using the following syntax:
<WorkFlowInternalName>.<StateInternalName>=<TransitionInternalName>

For example:

ProjectAs-Built.Final=CheckIn

In this example, if the document is in a workflow with the internal named ProjectAs-Built and the next transition is CheckIn leading to the Final state, it will be executed when the user executes the Save & Release command in AutoCAD.
